Event Support
Volunteers help Sands to achieve more by providing support and raising awareness across local communities. Sands are always looking for people to help support our fantastic fundraisers at major events such as the London Marathon or the Great North Run.
If you're good with a camera, or you're a physio who can help us look after our fundraisers after the event, or if you want to join our Kerb Crews to offer vocal support to all the brilliant members of Team Sands, then get in touch with Madeleine Martin at e: fundraising@sands.org.uk or tel: 0203 897 6092 or send us a message via our Facebook page!
GIVE-A-CAR
Convert you scrap car into money for Sands. You can choose to donate all the proceeds, or give us half and keep half for yourself.
Here’s how…
1. Contact Giveacar (www.giveacar.co.uk or 020 7736 4242)
Fill in their form or call the office - All they need is a couple of minutes to go through your details. Once they have your approval, a collection agent will call you in order to arrange a convenient pick-up time.
2. Your car is picked up
A tow truck usually arrives within 3 days to pick up your car, though in a few rare cases it may take up to 10 days. You can ensure a fast collection by also submitting an email address.
3. Your donation is made
Your car is sent to scrap or auction. Giveacar then donate the proceeds, after administrative costs, to Sands. They send you a receipt for your donation, and so will we. If you have chosen to donate half the value of your car, your receipt letter from Giveacar will also contain a cheque for half the donation amount.
How much can I raise?
Every car is different, but they all will create a valuable donation. Scrap car donations are based solely on the weight of the metal (so CD players/alloy wheels don't add to the donation). If your car is roadworthy, Giveacar may be able to raise more by selling it at auction. They deal with hundreds of cars, so know how to get the best value – often trade prices that are higher than private sales.
Is it really worth it?
YES. Every vehicle is worth something, and not just cars – Giveacar takes ride-on lawnmowers, farm machinery, vans, motorbikes and lorries as well. It’s an easy way to get rid of a problem and raise money for Sands, and at no cost to you.

Sell for Sands
Clean out your cupboards and help Sands. Now you can sell practically anything on eBay and donate from 10% to 100% of the final sale to support our vital work.
The eBay for Charity service is free and is a simple way to make a contribution while also making something for yourself. You decide exactly what percentage of your final selling price you'd like to give to Sands and what percentage you'd like for yourself.
Extra exposure
Choosing an eBay for charity listing will also give your listing and our work extra exposure. eBay for Charity listings are the same as any other eBay listing, except for the blue and yellow eBay for Charity ribbon in search results and your chosen charity's mission statement and logo in your listing. This means your listing can be seen by everyone who searches through eBay.co.uk. It'll also get extra visibility through the eBay for Charity pages.
Earn fee credits
Every time you list an item for charity, you’ll get a fee credit on your basic insertion and final value fees equal to the percentage you donate. So if you donate 50% of your selling price to a charity, eBay will waive 50% of your fees. You can choose to donate between 10% and 100% of the sale price of your item. You can also choose to Gift Aid your donation if you are a UK taxpayer.
The scheme is run by eBay in partnership with the charity PayPal Giving Fund (formerly MissionFish).

Sands Rose
The Eloise Sands Rose was created in memory of Paul and Tanya Byrne’s daughter Eloise who was stillborn on Mother's Day 2004 and its sale raises funds for Sands.
It is a stunning hybrid tea rose with large vivid salmon-orange blooms that are offset by dark glossy foliage. It was created in partnership between growers C&K Jones and Eloise’s parents and was launched by our Patron David Haig, at the Hampton Court Palace Flower in 2006.
£1.50 from the sale of each rose goes directly to Sands. They can be purchased from C & K Jones by mail order, Visit www.jonestherose.co.uk or call 01829 740663 to order a catalogue.
Starfish Creations Limited
Starfish Creations Ltd (designers and makers of personalised cards and prints), was established in memory of Nicola and Kenton’s baby girl Siena, who was born in December 2015 and sadly died five days later.
Finding that there were no cards or prints available to give each other on special occasions, Nicola and Kenton decided to start designing and making cards and prints, so that they and other bereaved parents could receive something on these occasions, acknowledging that they are a Mummy and Daddy to a baby who has died.
The range is growing with 10% of each sale from the Angel Range being donated to Sands.
To view the Starfish Creations Cards please visit www.starfishcreations.co.uk. If you have any queries, please contact sales@starfishcreations.co.uk.
