Following the retirement of our long standing Chief Executive last year, Sands is delighted to announce the appointment of our new Chief Executive, Dr Clea Harmer.

Clea is joining us from NCT where she has been Head of NCT College for the last three years, responsible for the training and quality assurance of all NCT practitioners and students.  Although she initially qualified as a doctor, Clea has then also worked within NCT where she has made the journey from parent, to practitioner, to senior manager.  She brings experience of working in the charity sector, along with experience in education, medicine, research and in the support of parents.

Following her appointment Clea told us ‘Sands is an organisation that I feel passionately about – having been involved with it on both a personal and a professional level – and I feel very privileged to be taking on this new role.’

Angela McCafferty, Chair of Trustees said ‘We very much look forward to Clea joining us in July and leading Sands’ ongoing commitment to bereavement support services, improving bereavement care and reducing the number of babies dying in the UK.’
