Clare Worgan
Clare Worgan, Sands | 29 October 2019

Alongside our partners, supporters and volunteers across the UK, we're a team of caring, highly skilled staff working to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, improve bereavement care and fund research to save babies' lives. In this series of blogs, you can meet a few members of the team, hear about why they chose to work for Sands, and what inspires them in their work. The charity is divided into different departments, which work closely together to provide a lifeline when a baby dies.

Meet Clare Worgan, who joined us as External Training and Learning Resources Manager.

What does your day to day job involve?

I’m new in post so currently my day to day job involves getting to know the Sands team, the work we do and considering potential ways in which we can improve access to our educational resources so that health care professionals are equipped and able to provide the best possible bereavement care.

What do you find most rewarding? What inspires you?

I am motivated by the stories I hear from parents and health care professionals. I always feel inspired when I hear parents talk about the pride and love they have for their babies. The most rewarding part of my job is bringing professionals and parents together because hearing directly from parents is such a rare and valuable learning opportunity for professionals.

What is your proudest moment in your career?

Joining the Sands team.

What do you love most about Sands?

The people. Sometimes it seems like we all have different perspectives on baby loss but I think that’s what makes us such an effective organisation. It’s lovely to be part of a passionate team of staff and volunteers who are united behind a common purpose.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I’m slowly becoming a triathlete! I’m no record breaker so please don’t ask me about my times but I do love a participation medal :)
