A group of friends and family called 'The Roses' will be taking part the RideLondon cycling event on Sunday to raise awareness and funds in aid of Sands. 

RideLondon is the world’s greatest festival of cycling, with more than 100,000 cyclists expected to participate during the weekend. 

The Roses have been busy washing their kit and preparing their bikes for their challenge. The team have also attracted media attention and were interviewed about their challenge on BBC Radio Surrey today. 

The Roses have chosen to raise funds for Sands as team member Sara Abbott's daughter Lizzie was given the devastating news that her baby daughter Ella had died at 34 weeks gestation in October 2016.

Sands supported the family and helped them to create precious memories by providing Lizzie with a Memory Box. Read more about Sara's story here

The Roses will be joining 25,000 amateur cyclists on Sunday and their challenge will see them cycle through London and Surrey on a similar route to that of the London 2012 Olympic Road Cycling Races.

The event will start in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, then travel through the capital and onto Surrey's stunning country roads and through the Surrey Hills before a spectacular finish on The Mall in central London.

The Roses are great fundraisers and ambassadors for Sands and they have already raised an incredible £15,000.
